Lived In LeMars In His Younger DaysFred Lyman Dorr, 62, retired farmer of Amerst township, Cherokee county, died at his home in Marcus at 5 o’clock Friday afternoon. He was a son of the late P. A. Dorr, pioneer oil dealer in LeMars, and lived here when a youth after the family moved to LeMars from Amherst township where he was born.
He farmed in that community all his life, moving to Marcus five years ago.
He is survived by his widow, Anna Specht Dorr, whom he married, February 10, 1905; five sons, Harold, Melvin, Everett, Wesley, and Cecil who is serving in Italy with a quartermaster supply unit; two daughters, Lulu and Eunice, of Marcus; three brothers, Lester and Ray of LeMars and Clarence, of Marcus; and nine grandchildren. An infant son preceded him in death.
The funeral was held from his home Monday afternoon and services held in the Methodist church in Marcus of which he was a member. Rev. Fremont Faul officiated and interment was made in the Amherst cemetery.
The pallbearers were three brothers and three brother-in-laws: Lester, Clarence and Ray Dorr; Henry, John, and Will Specht.
