FORMER RESIDENT TAKEN SUDDENLY

John W. Null Succumbs To Heart Attack at Currie, Minn.

John W. Null, a former resident of this county, passed away at his home near Currie, Minn., Thursday, at the age of 60 years, 5 months and 25 days of age. Mr. Null suffered a heart attack while attending a wedding shower at the home of a neighbor and died shortly after. He had been ailing for the last 12 years but always was able to be up and around.

Mr. Null was born August 9, 1876, on the home place, four miles north and a mile west of LeMars. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Null, who were pioneer residents of Elgin township.

Deceased grew to manhood and received his early education in Elgin township and attended the LeMars Normal school from 1893 to 1897. He was united in marriage to Miss Mary Monke at Litchfield, Illinois, on December 26, 1910, and farmed for several years near Struble. They moved to Murray county, Minn., in 1914, and later purchased their own home seven miles northeast of Slayton. The family lived in the town of Currie, from 1930 to 1933.

Funeral services were held from the Presbyterian church in Slayton, Minn., Sunday afternoon and burial was made in the Slayton cemetery, with the Masonic lodge, of which he was a prominent member, in charge or services. Mr. Null joined the Masons in 1922.

Mr. Null is survived by his wife and five brothers and five sisters, who are: Dr. F. F. Null, Hawarden; Gerd A., Remsen; George H., Preston township; Wm. R., Platte, S. D.; A. E., of Seney; Margaret Brauer, Brunswick, Neb.; Katherine Champion, Mapleton, Iowa ; Etta Albech, Canton, S. D.; and Lillian Faulkner, of Akron.

Those attending the funeral from this vicinity were Gerd Null, William Null, A. E. Null, Mrs. Lily Faulkner, George Null and son, Cecil; Raymond and Hobert Null, Hawarden; Gerd F. Null, Brunsville; George, Hattie and Melvin Monke, of LeMars, and Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Albech, of Canton, S. D.

Deceased w a s a well known citizen of the Currie and Slayton Vicinity, and enjoyed the acquaintances of many friends in the LeMars vicinity. The community extends its sympathy to his devoted wife and relatives.
