Mrs. Chas. Cardell died at her home in Fredonia township on Wednesday. She had been ill for some time, suffering with consumption, but her death came suddenly as she passed away in sleep. Her husband was away in Sioux City at the time with a young son who is ill and his bereavement was intensified by this untoward circumstance. Mrs. Cardell lived all her life in Fredonia township, where she was born on April 20, 1875, her maiden name being Caroline Olsen. She received her education in the county schools. She was married in November, 1892, to Charles Cardell, who with six young children is left to mourn the loss of a devoted wife and mother. She also leaves a brother residing in Washington and two sisters in North Dakota. Mrs. Cardell was essentially a home maker and her life was devoted to her husband and children. Although kept busy with the duties of large household she never neglected other duties and prominent in church and Sunday school work and her influence wrought much good in the community where she lived. She was highly esteemed by all those with whom she came in contact and in her death many feel the pang of regret at losing a dear and honored friend.
The funeral was held at the Danish Lutheran church in Fredonia township on Saturday, Rev. Rasmussen, of Marcus, conducting the service and was largely attended. Wm. Cardell, of Minot, N.D., came to attend the funeral. – Le Mars Semi-Weekly Sentinel, Feb. 8, 1910, page 1.
Note: Caroline Cardell or Kardell is buried in Block 10 of the Le Mars City (Memorial) Cemetery. She died Feb. 3 and was buried Feb. 5, 1910, at age 36, according to the Danish Lutheran Church records of Fredonia Twp.

Death removed another one from our community on Wednesday when Mrs. Charles Kardell of Fredonia township passed through the portals to the great beyond.
Although Mrs. Kardell had been a patient sufferer with consumption for months yet her death came rather unexpectedly to many friends and relatives when she went to sleep from which she never awoke in this life passing to her heavenly home at two o'clock on February 2nd.
Caroline Olson was born and reared in Fredonia township where she has spent her entire life. She was born on the 20th of April 1875 and received her early education in the county schools. In November 1892 she married Charles Kardell, who with six small children remain to mourn the loss of a loving wife and mother. Besides the faithful husband and little ones, deceased also leaves a brother who resides in Washington and two sisters in the state of North Dakota.
Mrs." Kardell had two prominent interests, her family and her church and to these her time was devoted with an uplifting willingness. Her affliction necessarily kept her close at home but she influenced a large acquaintance who are saddened with her passing and deeply sympathize with the bereaved ones. The funeral was held from the Danish Lutheran church In Fredonia township at 10:30 on Saturday morning and the remains laid to rest in the cemetery here. Rev. Rasmussen of Marcus, conducted the ceremonies. Relatives from a distance who attended the funeral were Wm. Kardell of Minot, N. D. and Mr. Hunquest of Nebraska.
