HEART ATTACK PROVES FATAL TO MAIL MAN
Edwin Higgenbotham / Higginbotham was First Rural Carrier On Kingsley Route.Obit: Final rites were held Friday afternoon in the Kingsley Methodist church with Rev, Joe Pickersgill, the pastor, officiating, for A.E. Higgenbotham, widely known rural mail carrier who had died unexpectedly from a sudden attack of heart trouble. Rev C. Hulse assisted at the service and interment was made in the Kingsley cemetery.
Arthur Edwin Higgenbotham was born at Mineral Point, Hardin County, Iowa, on Feburary 9, 1865, and passed away at his home in Kingsley on November 30, 1938.
He acquired a common school education and in 1890 moved to Kingsley with his parents and there he farmed for several years. On July 3, 1894, he was united in marriage to Mary Ann Smith and to them were born the following children: Mrs. Lucy Eppling, Arthur E., Harlan W., all of Kingsley; James M., of Los Angeles, Cal., and Mrs. Mildred Carlson of Pierson. He also leaves one brother, Harlan, of Steamboat Rock, Iowa. His wife preceded him in death on July 30 of this year.
He moved to Kingsley in 1898 and became Kingsley;s first mail carrier and carried mail on the rural routes for almost thirty years.
He United in early life with the Methodist church and remained a member until his death. He was a member of the Masonic and Odd Fellow Lodges.
