Susan L. Wilson was born in Ontario county, New York, February 9, 1819, where she grew to womanhood. Was married to Joseph Wilson January 19, 1841.
In December, 1845, they moved to. Illinois and settled on farm in McHenry county, near Waukegan. They resided there till the winter of 1851, when, with other friends, they came to Iowa, locating in Dubuque county.
In 1881 the family moved to Minnehaha county, S. D., and later, as the husband was in failing health, moved into Sioux Falls, where be died in July, 1881.
In 1883 the mother came to Akron, Iowa, where she has since resided with her son, A. U. Wilson, whose family moved to Westfield, June 1.
She had been in declining health for several months. Nov. 25, 04, she passed way.
Funeral services were held in the Baptist church in Akron. Sunday the 27th, Revs. Blackman, of Akron, and Bretnell, of Westfield, officiating, The bearers were W. B. Martin, Peter Beaulieu, M.E. Small of Westfield, C.F. Horton, Elmer Seward, A.H. Smith of Akron.
The remains were interred in the Akron cemetery.
The floral offerings were very beautiful. The tribute of the Eastern Star and Masonic lodges were especially fitting to the sister who had been called to the grand lodge above.
