Mrs. Ivan Finzen
Mrs. Ivan Arthur. Finzen, 80, of Akron, died Monday (Nov. 2, 1981) in the Akron nursing home of a long illness.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the Immanuel Lutheran church in Akron. The Rev. Julian Swanson officiated with burial in Riverside cemetery, under direction of the Schroeder funeral home, Akron. A prayer service was held at 7:30 Thursday evening in the funeral home. Pallbearers were Ivan Arthur Finzen III, Ronald Finzen, Terry Harkness, Todd Finzen, Matthew Finzen and Bruce Small.
Rozelle Irene Lewison was born July 1, 1901 on a farm north of Hfc Point, S.D. in Union county, to Mr. and Mrs. G. M. Lewison. She was baptized in infancy and confirmed May 27r 1917 at Immanuel Lutheran church in Akron. She married Ivan Arthur Finzen July 10, 1919 in Akron. They began their married life on a farm four miles west of Akron, later moving to a farm southeast of Akron. Mr. Finzen died July 25, 1928.
After the death of her husband, Mrs. Finzen continued to live on the farm with her children until 1947, when she moved to Akron. She worked as a nurses aide until her retirement in 1966. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran church. She was an active member of the Ladies Aid, Women's Missionary Society and later LCW. She was .the last surviving spouse of Immanuel's charter members.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Ray (Ardis) Burdett of Tacoma, Wash., and Mrs. Clayton (Eunice) Howard of Phoenix, Ariz.; two sons, Arlo of Holtwood, Pa., and Arvin of Akron; a brother, Harley Lewison of Akron; 19 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ivan Arthur, a daughter, June Peterson and a son Ivan Arthur II.
