Leo Kowalski, another of the older citizens of Merrill, has passed to his reward. For a number of years he has been troubled with asthma and complications incident to old age. About a week or two ago he was taken to Sioux City for some special treatment, but it was to no avail and the end came quite suddenly last Sunday evening. The body was brought to Merrill Monday and yesterday morning it was laid in the Saint Joseph cemetery at LeMars.
Leo Kowalski was born at Kammine, West Prussia , August 15, 1838. He came to America July 6, 1880, locating at Dickeyville, Wis. In 1893 he came to Merrill, where he has since resided, following the occupation of carpenter. He leaves a wife and four children, Frank of this place, Mary Kremer, of Killian, Minnesota, Anton of Rolfe, Iowa, and Max of Hinton.
