Wm. March, Former Seney, Akron Resident, Buried at Cedar Falls

Funeral services for William Lafayette March, 80, Cedar Falls, who died Thursday afternoon, May 27, [1954] were held Saturday at 2 p.m. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery there. Mr. March is an uncle of T.K. Chapman of LeMars.

He was as partner in the March and Corning Hardware Store, Cedar Falls, in which he was active for 28 years, from 1920 to 1948. Prior to that Mr. March had been associated with the Wagner Manufacturing company in 1905. He had owned and operated a drug store in Akron, Iowa, after becoming a licensed pharmacist in 1901.

The son of Littlefair and Elizabeth March, he was born Dec. 15, 1873, at Belle Plaine. The family moving to Seney, Iowa, in 1876 remaining there until 1896 when he came to Cedar Falls where he was employed by the Pfeiffer Company.

He married Clara J. Mathias, Oct. 21, 1902, who preceded him in death in 1928.

August 22, 1930, he married Mrs. Genevieve Maynard.

He was a member of the First Methodist church, the Masonic Lodge and was a Rotarian.

Surviving are his wife, a niece Mrs. Erlynne Weld, Sioux City, who made her home with Mr. and Mrs. March until her marriage in 1933, two sisters, Mrs. Clara McArthur, Villard, Minn., and Lucile March, Sioux City, several nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Frank, and two sisters.
