Robert P. Mockler, 81, of Kingsley passed away Sunday, July 1, 2012, at this home surrounded by his family.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Michael Catholic Church in Kingsley. The Rev. Mark J. Stoll and Rev. Thomas Topf will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery, with military rites performed by the America Legion Nash Post 140. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday, with the family present 5 to 8 p.m. and a Scriptural prayer service at 7 p.m., at the Johnson-Earnest Funeral Home in Kingsley. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church.

Robert Patrick Mockler was born on Oct. 5, 1930, in Kingsley, the son of Edward and Pearl (Feeney) Mockler. He graduated from Union Consolidated High School, rural Le Mars, Iowa, in 1948. Robert was drafted into the U.S. Army and proudly served his country during the Korean War. He earned his honorable discharge in December 1953. After the service, he began a lifelong career in farming.

Bob and Mary Lou Junck were united in marriage on Feb. 23, 1954, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Kingsley. In the early 1980s, Bob was joined by his sons, Dan and Alan, in the farming operation.

Bob was a lifelong member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Kingsley and was a Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of American Legion Nash Post 140 in Kingsley. In his spare time, Bob enjoyed reading.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 58 years, Mary Lou of Kingsley; children, Bill (LoAnn) Mockler of Minneapolis, LeAnne (Rob) Collins of Hartley, Iowa, Linda (Carl) Bliss of San Diego, Calif., Lois Mockler of Marshall, Minn., Dan Mockler of Kingsley, Alan Mockler of Kingsley, and Andrea (Dave) Sitzmann of Sherburn, Minn.; eight grandchildren, Ben Collins, Nate (Michelle) Collins, Jon Collins, Meghan (Tom) Bliss, Hannah Bliss, Carly Bliss, Samantha Sitzmann, and Mitchell Sitzmann; two great-grandchildren, Alison Bliss and Madison Bliss; a brother, Paul Mockler of Kansas City, Kan.; a sister, Mary Anne (Wayne) Case of Iowa City, Iowa; in-laws, Bernard Junck of Hinton, Iowa, Duane (Pat) Junck of Kingsley and Connie Junck of Kingsley; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers Jim and Jack Mockler.

Pallbearers will be Bob's grandchildren.
