Death entered the home of Mr. and Mrs. Adam Nagel last Friday evening and took from them their first child, Albert, a boy thirteen years old. He passed away at seven o’clock that evening with inflammatory rheumatism, with which he suffered for about seven weeks.
Albert began to feel the ailment about eight weeks ago and it grew worse for some time, and three weeks ago it seemed to improve. He was again able to be about, and last Monday afternoon, was in town. The following day he was suddenly taken down again, and in spite of the best care he died within a few days.
Albert Nagel was born on a farm southeast of Remsen, the place which is the present family home, on March 3, 1915 [1905]. His entire life was spent with his parents, a brother, John, eight years old, a sister, Paullina, ten years old and a step-brother, Alfred Nagel, thirteen years old.
The funeral was held Monday afternoon with services in Christ Lutheran church, Remsen. The services were conducted by Rev. I. C. Ilten of Amherst township. The body was laid to rest in the Remsen cemetery. – Remsen Bell-Enterprise, June 20, 1918, page 1.
