Clarence V "Brownie" Brown, 88, Hinton, Iowa, well-known Ford vehicle and implement dealer
died Monday in a Sioux City hospital after a long illness.Services will be 2 pm Thursday in the Hinton United Methodist Church, The Rev Dale
Stone, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery in Sioux City with
graveside services conducted by Casper Post 477, American legion. A prayer service will be
at 7:30 today followed by a Masonic service conducted by Triangle Lodge 643 in Meyer Brother
Colonial Chapel in Sioux City.Mr Brown was born Sep 15, 1895, in America Township in Iowa. He moved to Hinton with his
family in 1907. He attended school in Hinton, NBT College in Sioux City and Highland Park College in
Des Moines. In 1917 he enlisted in the Air Force. He married Dora Stockburger, Feb 11, 1920, in
Los Angeles.In 1920 he and his brother built Brown's Garage in Hinton and continued in the family Ford
Dealership and Impleament business until he retired in 1967. Mr Brown was honored in 1962 in
Detroit for having the third oldest Ford dealership in the US.He was a member of Hinton United Methodist Church, 50-yr member of Triangle Lodge, Sioux City
Consistory and Abu Beku Shrine Temple. He was a chapter member of Casper Post 477, American Legion,
and a continuous member serving as commander, secretary and treasurer for several years. He served on
the town council for 19 yrs, was a past member of the Votunteer Fire Dept and was a member of the Civic Club.
He reigned as king of the Hinton Centennial Celebration in July 1983.Mr Brown served with the U S Air Force during World War 1 in the 341st Air Corps at St Jean De Mounts,
France.Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Dorothy E Newberg of Hinton and Karen K Preusser of
Apple Valley, Minn, two brothers, Harry C of Springfield, Va and Milton O of Grand Junction, Colo
and two grandchildren. He died on 10 Sep 1984 in Hinton, Plymouth, Iowa and was buried in Graceland Memorial Park, Sioux City, Iowa.
