Saturday, May 19, 2012Ruth M. Wilde, 86, of rural Le Mars passed away Saturday, May 19, 2012 at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars, Iowa.
Her funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at the Le Mars United Methodist Church with Reverend John Battern officiating. Interment will be at Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery, Le Mars, IA. Visitation will after 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars followed by a 7:00 Prayer Service at the funeral home. Visitation will continue Wednesday morning at the church from 9:30 a.m. until service time.
Ruth Marion Colburn was born March 14, 1926 at home in Sanborn, Iowa to Russell H. and Emma S. (Eggebraaten) Colburn. As a young child, her family moved to Mitchell, South Dakota. When Ruth was 9 years old, the family moved to Le Mars, Iowa. She graduated from Le Mars Central High School with the Class of 1944. Following graduation, Ruth attended and graduated from nurses training in Marshalltown, Iowa as a Registered Nurse. After graduating from nurses training, Ruth returned to le Mars and began working at Sacred Heart Hospital which later became Floyd Valley Hospital. She worked over 40 years as a nurse and retired in the 1980’s. Ruth was united in marriage to Donald Wilde on December 16, 1951. Donald passed away on August 11, 1994.
Ruth had been a longtime member of the Presbyterian United Church of Christ, where she enjoyed the evening guild and volunteering with church activities. In later years, Ruth attended the Le Mars United Methodist Church. She enjoyed reading, crafts, crocheting, and collecting dolls from around the world.
Survivors include her daughter, Carla Sue Jenness of Le Mars; a sister-in-law, Helene Colburn of Beacon Falls, CT; a mutually adopted daughter, Leane Bodle of Manson, Iowa; and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell H. and Emma S. (Eggebraaten) Colburn; husband, Donald Wilde;a brother, Stanley Colburn; a sister, Betty Lou Colburn as a child; and a son-in-law, Marlin Jenness.
