Faye Jean Fromme, 92, of Remsen, Iowa died Friday, October 7, 2011 at Happy Siesta Health Care Center in Remsen, Iowa.
Faye Jean was born January 26, 1919 at Elkhorn Township rural Kingsley, Iowa, the daughter of Ottis Richardson and Jean (Gilmour) Richardson Bolton. She was raised and education in the Elkhorn township area attending both rural school and Kingsley High School, graduating in 1935. After high school she attended Sioux Falls College for a short while. She then worked at her mother’s grocery store in Kingsley. On Nov. 27, 1937 she married Delmar Fromme at Kingsley. The couple farmed on the Fromme family farm until 1980 when they retired from farming. She worked at Mid-Sioux Opportunity for several years, setting up outreach offices. She also worked at the Fashion Shop in Remsen for almost 10 years. In 1989 they moved into Remsen. Delmar died March 14, 2004. Faye Jean entered the Happy Siesta Health Care Center on Sept. 29, 2011.
Faye Jean was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church. She held different office positions in the Federated Women’s Club of Iowa, she was on the committee for the Remsen 75th Jubilee, and served on the election board for Henry Township. She enjoyed ballroom dancing, reading, gardening, cooking, canning and she was famous for her chocolate chip cookies.
Survivors include: one daughter Joan Fromme Quinn of Remsen, one son Lynn Fromme and his wife Dianne of Remsen; one grandson, Dale Quinn of Rigby, Idaho, and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, one brother, William Richardson and his wife Dorothy, her step-father, James Bolton, and one step-brother, James Ross Bolton.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Remsen, with Rev. Craig Miller officiating Burial was in the Remsen Community Cemetery. Visitation was after 4 p.m. on Mon., October 10, 2011 with a prayer service at 7 p.m., all at Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen. Visitation resumed Tuesday morning from 9 a.m. until service time at the church.
Casket bearers were: Carlyn Erichsen, Terry Maass, Gayle Henrich, David Ott, Tony Paskert, and Dennis Kroeger.
