Lived To A Great Age

Mrs. Rolapp Was One Of Oldest Residents in County

Had Attained The Age Of Ninety-Seven

Deceased was a Native of Ost Friesland, Germany, and Came with Her Husband to Plymouth County in 1890. Leaves Many Descendants.

Mrs. Rolapp, one of the oldest residents of the county, died at her home in Mammen, on Saturday night. Death was due to old age. Mrs. Rolapp was nearly ninety-eight years of age, having been born on June 10, 1824. She enjoyed good health and was spry and active up to the time of her brief illness which brought death.

Mrs. Rolapp was born in Ost Friesland, Germany. Her maiden name was Kanka Margaret Johnson (sp. Kinke Margaretha Janssen). She lived in her native land until 1891, when she and her husband came to America to join their children. Mr. Rolapp died twenty-two years ago. Since that time Mrs. Rolapp and her daughter made their home in Mammen. She is survived by her son, Henry Rolapp, of this city, her daughter, Mrs. Henry Johnson, of Brunsville, Mrs. Henry W. Ommen, of LeMars, and Miss Elizabeth Rolapp, of Mammen. One daughter, Mrs. C.S. Mammen preceded her mother in death. She is also survived by twenty grandchildren and thirty-eight great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Rolapp was a good Christian woman and a kindly neighbor and was greatly respected in the community.

The funeral services will be held this afternoon at Christ church, Mammen, Rev. J. D. Meyer officiating.
