Long Time Remsen veterinarian Dr. Floyd Mylan dies Saturday.
Dr. Floyd A. Mylan, 78, retired Remsen veterinarian, died Saturday (Oct. 6, 1973) at Floyd Valley hospital after an illness of several months.
He entered the hospital July 17.
Dr. Mylan had practiced in the Remsen area over 50 years. He graduated from the Chicago Veterinarian college, went to Rmsen in 1918 and entered into practice with Dr. Theodore List. He retired in 1969.
He was born Jan. 14, 1895, at Farmington and was married to Bertha Rann Oct. 12, 1922, in the Methodist church at Dakota City, Neb.
At one time, Dr. Mylan was very active in semi-pro baseball having played first base with the Remsen club.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran church, Remsen, with Rev. Thomas Renquist officiating.
Burial will be in the Remsen cemetery under direction of the Moeller funeral home.
Survivors are his wife and a daughter, Marlene M. Mylan, a teacher in the West Des Moines school district.
Dr. Mylan was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Harry, Clyde and Joseph, a half brother William Sedgwick and a half sister Lottie Mae Sedwick. – Le Mars Daily Sentinel, Oct. 8, 1973, page 1.
