Funeral services were held Thursday, today, August 31, at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran church in Remsen at 2:00 p.m. for Charles Kohler who died at his home in Remsen on Monday, August 28, Rev. Paul Wuebben officiated with burial in Remsen city cemetery.
He had been in failing health for several months but his passing came suddenly. He was 74 years old.
Charles Kohler was born on July 27, 1878, in Elgin, Ia., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Kohler. He was married to Anny Snyder on October 9, 1906, at Oyens, Ia. He had been in the jewelry business at Remsen for the past 50 years.
Surviving are his wife Anna of Remsen and one daughter, Virginia of Long Beach, Calif., also, four brothers and three sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
