Funeral services for Mrs. Friederike Steffen, 79, of Remsen, who died Tuesday at the Sacred Heart hospital, Le Mars, after a long sickness, will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Moller funeral home, Remsen, at 2 p.m. at Christ Lutheran church, Remsen, with Rev. R. W. Meyer officiating. Burial will be in a Remsen cemetery.
Mrs. Steffen was born March 13, 1874, in Germany.
She was married to August Steffen November 26, 1894, in Remsen township, Plymouth county, Ia.,
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one daughter, who died in infancy.
Survivors are four sons, Fred, Elmer and Walter, all of Remsen, and Carl of Long Beach, Calif; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Kohnke of Remsen and Mrs. Pauline Jensen of Baltimore; four sisters, 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. – Le Mars Globe-Post, Nov. 12, 1953, page 9.

Mrs. Steffen, 79, Buried at Remsen.
Funeral services were held Saturday for Mrs. Friederike Steffen, 79, of Remsen, who died Tuesday, Nov. 10 at Sacred Heart hospital. She had been in failing health since last March.
The Rev. R. W. Meyer conducted the services at Christ Lutheran church, and burial was in Remsen city cemetery under the direction of the Moeller funeral home.
Mrs. Steffen was born Maria Nagel, March 13, 1874, in Wurtenberg, Germany. Her marriage to August Steffen took place Nov. 26, 1894 in Remsen township, and they farmed south east of Remsen for many years before moving to Remsen in 1921. Mr. Steffen died Nov. 8, 1926.
She is survived by four sons, two daughters and two step-daughters. They are Fred, Elmer, and Walter Steffen of Remsen, Carl, Long Beach, Calif., and Mrs. Otto Kohnke, Remsen and Mrs. Jensen, Baltimore, Md. Her step daughters are Dora Johnston and Ella McKinley. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and four sisters. ˆ Le Mars Sentinel, Wednesday, Nov. 18, 1953, page 6
