Mrs. O. R. Akers passed away at the family home in Akron on Wednesday, December 11, 1918, at 6:41 p. m., of pneumonia, aged 40 years and 4 days. Mrs. Akers had been nursing other members of the family who were ill of influenza, and was in turn stricken about ten days ago,. In spite of the best of medical attention and the care of a trained nurse, the, dread pneumonia set in and all human agencies were powerless to stay the coming of the Angel of Death.

Ethel Gertrude McDeid was born at Sac City, Sac county, Iowa, December 7, 1878. In the spring of 1883 she removed with her parents to Iroquois, South Dakota. On December 29, 1900, at Hull, Iowa, she was united in marriage with Origen Bliss Akers, who at that time was depot agent at Perkins, Iowa, where they made their home. To this union four children were- born Lucille Ella, Samuel Forrest, Clara Hazel and Olive -Ethel Akers—all of whom were at home in a happy, unbroken family at the time of her untimely death. Mrs. Akers was a woman of lovely character and an ideal homemaker; a devoted wife and, mother, and a kind and helpful friend and neighbor. She was held in high esteem by all who knew her.

Besides the sadly bereaved husband and children, she is mourned by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. McDeid, of Onida S. D., and four sisters and one-brother Mrs. Andrew Spencer, of Onida, S. D.; Mrs. Ernest Hays, of Okobojo, S. D., Miss Ada McDeid, of Iroquois, S. D.: Mrs. F. J. Eager, of Onida, S. D., and John MeDeid, of Canning, S. D.

This community renders its sympathy, to the sorrowing relatives.

Mr. Akers and family moved here from Hudson, S. D., the first of last May, when he took the position of depot agent. He was similarly employed at Hudson for about a year, and previous to that time, at Delmont, S. D., where the family resided for seven years.

Mr. Akers and children will leave tomorrow (Friday) afternoon with the, remains of their wife and mother and, go to Plainview, Neb.; where interment will be made beside relatives. Mr. Akers' mother and sister reside at Plainview. They will also be accompanied there by Mrs. Akers' father, Geo. McDeid, her sisters, Mrs. Spencer and Mrs. Hays, and her brother, John McDeid.
