Marvin J. Schoen, 84, of Merrill, died Sunday, March 26, 2006, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars.

Marvin John Schoen was born April 18, 1921, in Craig, the son of Henry and Kathrina (Heien) Schoen. Marvin was united in marriage to Juanita Blackmore on Feb. 22, 1941, at Merrill. He was a farmer, truck driver, and grain elevator operator.

He was a long time Plymouth County resident and belonged to St. John Lutheran Church in Merrill.

Survivors include his two daughters, Joyce and her husband, Richard Kneip of Oyens and Vivian and her husband, Ronald Isaacson of Sioux City; seven grandchildren: Scott Kneip, Brenda (Kneip) Schellhorn, Kurtis Schoen, Kendall Schoen, Paula (Schoen) Ryen, Kyle Schoen, and Mindy Isaacson; seven great-grandchildren, Spencer Schoen, Skyler Schoen, Rachel Schoen, Ben Schoen, Nick Reyen, Jay Schoen, and Kiley Schoen; and several nieces and nephews.

Marvin was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita, on Dec. 17, 1999; his parents, Henry and Kathrina (Heien) Schoen; seven children; a brother; a sister; and a great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars, with the Rev. Peter Boe of St. John Lutheran Church, Merrill, officiating. Interment will be in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Johnson Township, rural Merrill. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Carlsen Funeral Home with the family present to greet friends after 5:30 p.m. followed by a 6:30 p.m. prayer service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Scott Kneip, Kendall Schoen, Kyle Schoen, and Mike Schoen.
