Mrs. Chris Andresen, an early-day resident of Akron vicinity, passed away at her home in this city at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 9, 1948, after an illness of about three weeks at the age of 81 years, 8 months and 18 days. On September 10th she was injured in a fall in her home and five days later suffered a paralytic stroke and gradually declined until the final summons came.

Margaretha Selck, daughter of Simon and Elsie Selck, was born January 29, 1869, in Heide, Holstein, Germany, where she was baptized in infancy and confirmed in the Lutheran church. In 1887, at the age of 20 she came to the United States, coming directly to Union County, South Dakota. There, on May 19, 1887, she was united in marriage with Hans Christian Anderson, and their union was blessed with thirteen children eight sons and five daughters. The family resided on a farm northwest of Akron, in Union county, until the spring of 1931, when she, with her husband, took up residence in Akron, which has since remained her home.

Her husband preceded her in death on February 26, 1932.

Left to mourn the loss of a kind and devoted mother are the following children: William, Rhinehart and Edward, of Le Mars; Rudolph and George, of Kingsley; Ferdinand, of Akron; Mrs. Ella Sawnson, of Deer River, Minn.; Mrs. Marie Heyl, of Lake Benton, Minn.; Mrs. Minnie King, of San Leandro, Calif. Also left to mourn are 31 grandchildren. 13 great-grandchildren and a host of friends.

Mrs. Andresen was endowed with a jovial, good-natured spirit, and was given to hospitality and deeply concerned about the welfare of others. She was an active, faithful member of Trinity Lutheran church and its Ladies Aid, finding deep satisfaction in attending the services and meetings of these organizations. Her genial presence will be much missed in the community where she had resided so many years.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in Trinity Lutheran church, conducted by Rev. J. A. Pannkuk. There were two musical selections, "Safe in the Arms of Jesus" and "Abide With Me," by the quartette. Interment was in Riverside cemetery.

Memorials by relatives and friends have been presented to the Trinity Memorial Pipe Organ, Missions, Akron Hospital and the Lutheran Hour, in her memory.
