Gesine Martfeld, 92, Brunsville, a resident of Plymouth county for more than 80 years died Wednesday (March 8, 1978) at Morningside Manor, Alcester, S.D.
Gesine Margaretta Redelfs was born March 12, 1885, in Ostfriesland, Germany to Ommo and Antje Eckhoff Redelfs. She came to the United States and Plymouth county at the age of 11 years and since lived in the Brunsville area. Her marriage to Deitrick Martfeld took place Dec. 19, 1907, in Johnson township, Plymouth county. He preceded her in death in May 1945. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister and a brother.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Peter's Lutheran church in Brunsville, Rev. Robert Salge officiated with burial in Hillside cemetery in Merrill under direction of the Mauer funeral home, Le Mars.
Survivors are a son Fred Martfeld of Brookpark, Minn.; two daughters, Anna Hongslo, Alcester and Mrs. Walter (Clara) Gasser, Bakersfield, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; 21 greatgrandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are a brother, Eilert Redelfs, Bellingham, Wash., and two sisters, Mrs. Therese Wilken, Brunsville, and Mrs. Anna Buchre, Le Mars.
