Last Rites For S. A. Bogenrief Well Known Former Resident Here
Funeral services were held in the Methodist church at Winnebago, Minn., Monday afternoon for S. A. Bogenrief, well known former Plymouth county resident. Rev. C. W. Gilman officiating, and interment made in the Rose Hill cemetery at Winnebago.
Solomon Andrew Bogenrief, son of Benjamin and Martha Bogenrief, was born at Kent, Ill., February 18, 1870, and died at his farm home March 23, 1940, at the age of 70 years, 1 month, 5 days. Death was due to cancer after an 18 months illness. Mr. Bogenrief with his family went to Winnebago in September, 1919. and has since lived a this home there. On October 30, 1895 he was united in marriage with Laura E. Royer at Pearl City, Ill., and they made their home in Plymouth county following their marriage. To this union five children were born.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Laura, a son, Floyd A. and daughter, Orla Mae, and six grandchildren, Mrs. Floyd Vickery, of Granada, Minn., Miss Feme Allison, Darlene, Wendell, Arnold and Julane Bogenrief of Winnebago. Three brothers, W. O. Bogenrief, of Merrill, D. O. Bogenrief of Sioux City and J. O. Bogenrief of Ortonville, Minn., a half brother, A. J. Gerling and half sister, Mrs. Edith Conover, of Le Mars, Iowa.
A daughter, Mrs. Blanche Irene Allison, passed away at their present home in January, 1920, and a son and daughter died in infancy and three brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
He has long been a Christian worker and attended the United Brethren church in early life, later changing his membership to the Methodist church of which he has been a member ever since. Out of town relatives attending the service were Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Bogenrief and son, Gerald, of Ortonville, Minn.; Mrs. and Mrs. Morris Royer, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Miller of Balaton, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Albert Conrad and son, Marvin, of Jasper, Minn., Ray Piper of Minneapolis, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. D. M. Royer and family of Amboy, Minn.; A. J. Gerling, Mr. and Mrs, William Hodgson, Mr. and Mm. Henry Remer, Earl Reiner and son of Le Mars.
