Lillian Heitmann. REMSEN- Mrs. Clarence (Lillian) Heitmann, 91, of Remsen, died Tuesday, Feb. 14, 1995, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars after a brief illness.
She was born Aug. 28, 1903, at rural Remsen, the daughter of Joachim and Dora (Christopherson) Grage. She was raised and educated in the Remsen area. On Feb. 26, 1930, she married Clarence Heitmann at Remsen. They farmed near Remsen until 1937 when they moved to Sioux City and in 1942 they moved to Hillfield, Utah, where they were both employed by the government in the war effort.
In 1947 the couple moved to near Pico, Calif., where they established and operated a trailer court. In 1951 they moved back to Remsen. Mr. Heitmann died Aug. 6, 1951. Her father, Joachim Grage, lived with her from 1951 until 1961. She had been a resident of the Happy Siesta Nursing Home in Remsen since July 5, 1994.
Mrs. Heitmann was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Remsen.
Survivors include three brothers and their wives, Walter and Helen Grage and Ray and Marge Grage, all of Remsen, and Arlie and Aileen Grage of Marcus; two sisters, Mrs. Elmer(Bertha) Steffen of Remsen and Erna and her husband, Alfred “Stovie” Hansen of Kingsley; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Henry and Elmer Grage; three sisters, Mrs. Gilbert (Marie) Roling, Mrs. Fred (Anna) Steffen and Mrs. Bill (Viola) Gottsche.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Christ Lutheran Church in Remsen with the Rev. Robert Eggers officiating. Burial will be in the Remsen City Cemetery. Friends may call anytime after 2 p.m. today (Wednesday), with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at the Fisch Funeral Home in Remsen. – Le Mars Daily Sentinel, Feb. 15, 1995, page 2.
