George Hummel, 82, of Westfield dead
Funeral services for George Eden Hummel, 82, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Westfield Congregational Church. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery at Akron, under direction of the Schroeder Funeral Home of Akron. Masonic graveside rites will be performed.
Mr. Hummel died Monday at an Akron Hospital after a brief illness. He was born Dec. 12, 1883, at Civil Bend, S.D., and married Hansena Christensen on Dec. 17, 1903, at Sioux City. They farmed near Milnerville,. Ia., until moving to Westfield in 1920. He was a school custodian until retiring recently, and the couple moved to an Akron nursing home two years ago. He was a member of Freedom lodge 434, A.F. & A.M. and Vesper chapter, Order of Eastern Star, at Akron.
Survivors are the widow, six daughters, Mrs. Henning Hansen of Hendricks, Minn., Mrs. Theodore Carlson and Mrs. Charles Holworth, both of Omaha, Mrs. Donald Secar of Chico, Calif., Mrs. George Sohultze of Kalispell, Mont., and Mrs. Chester Eisele of Juanita, Neb.; four sons, Clarence of Akron, Lyle of Kalispell, George of Salix and the Rev. William of Altus, Okla.; two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Skog of Crosby, Minn., and Mrs. Ida Morehead of Sioux City; 41 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
