Young Woman Taken At An Early Age. Florence Harder, 21, Dies At Shenandoah-Funeral Service at Remsen.
Florence Harder, 21, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Harder, of Remsen, died Tuesday noon at Shenandoah, following an operation. The remains were shipped to Remsen and funeral services held there today at 2 p.m. with Rev. A. Noack, of the Christ Lutheran church in charge.
Miss Harder was operated on over two years ago for appendicitis and had been failing since that time. She took sick on October 13 and two days later entered a hospital at Shenandoah. She was living with her sister, Mrs. Willard Ellsworth, of Shenandoah, where she was employed in a café.
Deceased was born in Remsen on Nov. 7, 1912, and graduated from the high school there in 1930. Since her graduation she had been away from home, spending two years working in Storm Lake.
She is survived by her father, stepmother, three brothers, Orla, Leonard and Ralph, and her sister.

Word was received here yesterday by relatives and friends that Florence Harder, daughter of William Harder, had passed away at Shenandoah. Death followed an operation. She was twenty-one years of age. Up to the time of her illness she had been employed by the Earl May company. Her father, William Harder, brother Arlo, and aunt, Mrs. Leonard Recknagel hurried to her beside Tuesday when notified of her serious illness, but death had come before they arrived there. She is survived by her father, William Harder, one sister, Inez Ellsworth, and three brothers, Orlo, Leonard and Ralph. The body is being sent to Remsen for burial, but funeral arrangements have not been made. – Le Mars Semi-Weekly Sentinel, Oct. 30, 1934, page 2.
