WILLIAM FALKE DIES. Remsen Pioneer Said to Be Oldest Resident of City.
William Falke, aged 86, one of the oldest residents of Remsen, died very suddenly Sunday morning. He had just finished eating breakfast and was conversing with relatives at the breakfast table. He was the father of Henry Falke, one of the leading business men of Remsen.
William Falke was a native of Hanover, Germany. He and his wife came to America in the early eighties and located in Christian county, Illinois, where they farmed for a few years, and then came to Plymouth county where he bought land in Henry township, which he developed and improved and became the owner of several hundred acres of land. He was engaged in stock raising and general farming until he retired and moved to Remsen a number of years ago.
The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon from Christ Lutheran church in Remsen, Rev. A. H. Noack officiating. – Le Mars Semi-Weekly Sentinel, Dec. 12, 1924, page 1.
