Gerhardt Von Hagel, 81, Akron, died Tuesday, July 24, 1973 at the Akron hospital after a brief illness.

Funeral services were Thursday, July 26, at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran church with Rev. Durwood Clauson officiating. Burial was in Riverside cemetery under direction of the Schroeder funeral home, Akron. Casket bearers were Paul Von Hagel, Eldon Von Hagel, Arnold Hitzemann, Marvin Hitzemann, Robert Hitzemann and Alvin Jurgenson.

Mr. Von Hagel was born July 29,1891, in Union county, S.D. to Albert and Lena (Nee Fiebing) Von Hagel. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith at their home in Union County and was a member of the Grant Township Church at Merrill, Iowa. He moved to Akron in 1898 where he worked in an implement shop with his father to 1934 he became Akron's first electric welder. He worked as a welder until his retirement in 1962.

Survivors are two sisters, Mrs. Anna Long and Mrs. Matie Hitzemann, both of Akron and two brothers, John and George both of Akron.

He is preceded in death by 2 brothers and one sister.
