Harris, Clifton Holmes died 1973

Clifton Holmes Harris of 3310 Hillside Dr., died December 25 in Veterans Administration Hospital, Durham, where he had been a patient for five days. He had been in declining health for four years.

Mr. Harris was born in Pinetown, a son of Samuel C. and Hattie Mae Little Harris. He was a resident of High Point for nine years, coming here from Smithfield. He was married May 29, 1948, to Cleah Mellen, former Akron resident. He was a retired businessman, retiring in June of this year. He was a veteran of World War II and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. At the time of his death, he was associated with Dependable Refrigeration. He was a member of Oakview Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Cleah M, Harris of the home; three sons, Timothy Clifton Harris, a student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Gary Lyle Harris of the home, Walter Ray Harris, a student at the University of N.C. at Chapel Hill; three sisters, Mrs. J. Hollis White of Plymouth, Mrs. Seth Webster of Pantego and Mrs. Lewis Stell of Bath; and three brothers, Roy M. Harris of Raleigh, Lester S. Harris of Pinetown and William E. Harris of Pasadena, Md.

Funeral was held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, December 27,1972 in Oakview Baptist Church by the Rev. Kenneth Miller. Burial was in a local cemetery.
