Marvin Emrey Klemme, son of Emrey and Freda Klemme was born December 9,1917 and passed from this life February 25, 1972 at the age of 54 years, two months. 16 days. He attended school in this vicinity and grad-uated from Akron High School in 1935. From this time, he farmed in the Akron vicinity. He was convinced that farming was the only way of life.

On August 27, 1938, he was united in marriage to Mildred Lemen. This union was blessed with four children: Marlene Anne, who preceded him in death; Myrna Jo (now Mrs. Lyle Moffatt) of Akron; Merlyn Lee of Omaha, Nebaska and Merrie Katherine (how Mrs. Ron Prunty) of Des Moines, Iowa. He was a man who wanted to be involved and was really concerned about the problems confronting our young people. He was a member of the First Church of Christ. He served as Elder for about 25 years and as Sunday School Superintendent for many years. At the time of his death, he was Elder and Chairman of the Official Board. The church held a place of preeminence in his life.

He became a Master Mason in 1943 and served in various capacities, being Master of the Lodge at the time of his passing. He was a Masonic Instructor and District Lecturer in Masonry. His membership is in Freedom Lodge No. 434, A.F.& A.M. and he welcomed the opportunities for service there. He was also a member of Sioux City Consistory and a former Rainbow Dad.

Survivors include the widow, the two daughters and one son; his parents; three brothers, Kenneth of Redwood City, California, Dale and Daryl, who farm near Akron and two sisters, Verla Mae (now Mrs. Elwin Laudenslayer)of Redwood City and Betty Jean (now Mrs. Roger Athens) of Le Mars and a half sister, Mrs. Mildred Meske of Akron. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. He will be sorely missed by all.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at the First Church of Christ in Akron. Pastors Beryl Hicks and Steve Steele officiated. Soloist was Mrs. Carol Harris and accompanist was Mrs. Birdie Harris. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery under the direction of the Schroeder Funeral Home. Masonic graveside rites were conducted by Freedom Lodge No. 434 A.F. & A.M. A prayer service was held at 7:30 p.m. Sunday night. A memorial service was given by members of Vesper Chapter No. 61, Order of the Eastern Star.
