NIC HAUSER EXPIRES SUDDENLY WHILE AT WORK

Nick Hauser, a former well known resident of Merrill vicinity, died quite suddenly at his home near Toronto, S. D., last,, Sunday evening.

Mr. Hauser had not been feeling the best for nearly a week. Sunday evening he went out to assist his son, George, to do the evening chores. He had strewn a little straw on the barn floor as bedding for the horses and then went to give them oats. The boy finished his own part of the chores and returned to the house. After waiting about ten minutes he thought it strange that his father had not followed him and consequently went back to the barn to ascertain the cause. He was, startled to find his father lying dead on the barn floor.

The body of Mr. Hauser was brought to Merrill Thursday morning and the funeral services were conducted that afternoon in the local Methodist church. Rev. Hill officiating. The body was laid to rest in the silent city on the hillside.

Nick M. Hauser died February 29, at Toronto, S. D., of heart failure. He was born May 27, 1854, at Bellevue, Jackson county, Ia., and moved to Plymouth County when a young man. About twelve years ago he sold out there and moved to Toronto, S. D.

He was married December 20, 1876, at Sioux City, to Miss Lillian Hauswald. To this union six children were born, Mrs. Guy McMeekin, of Toronto, S. D.; Lewis Hauser, of Merrill, Mrs. James Howes, of Leeds. Mrs. LeRoy Dreblow, of Clear Lake, S. D., Mrs. Geo. Manz, of Hinton and George, who lived at home with his father and mother. On account of ill health Mrs. Hauser was unable to attend the funeral.
