MRS. ELLIS JACKSON CALLED BY DEATH LAST SATURDAY

Last Rites Are Held Monday For Esteemed Akron Woman

This community was saddened Saturday by the news of the death of Mrs. Ellis Jackson after a long illness.

Bertha M. Daniels, daughter of Edgar and Sarah Daniels, was born March 11, 1883, at Conesus, N. Y. She attended High, school in Livonia, N. Y. later attending Geneseo State Normal school at Geneseo, N. Y., graduating in 1906. She was a teacher in the schools in South Livonia, Jordan, Sag Harbor, Lake Placid, Akron and Jamestown, in New York State. She also was a graduate of Palmer School of Business Penmanship.

On April 13, 1922, she was united in marriage with Ellis L. Jackson, of Liivonia, N. Y., and served with her husband in pastorates at Fairfleld Peace River and Red Deer, in Alberta, Canada, in Page and Bismarck N. Dak., Mitchell and Mobridge S. D. and in Akron, la. She shared the joys and sorrows of the manse one loved to be of real service to her church and Lord. Most of her work VHS with youth, as a teacher, friend and counselor. She never sought office for herself, but felt that her sphere of influence to be the manse. To herhusband she was counselor, friend and helpmate. She derived true pleasure from her hobbies of botany wild flowers and reading. She was a member of the First Baptist church, he Ladies' Bible Class, the Ladies' Association, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Book and Thimble Club.

Besides her husband, she is survived by her sister-in-law, Mrs. John L. Daniels, a nephew, John Elwood Daniels, and cousins in western New York; also by an aunt, Mrs. Lena Sutler, of Lima, N. Y. Her brother, John L. Daniels, preceded her in death. The sincere sympathy of the community is tendered these relatives in their bereavement.

Services for Mrs. Jackson were held on Monday afternoon of this week at the Baptist Manse and the First Baptist Church, with Rev. Walter Halbert, of Des Moines, in charge, assist Rev. James Flack, of Des Moines, and Rev. Leon N. Nelson, of Hawarden. Rev. Jackson gave the sermon, The Days of Our Weaving." Music consisted of the hymns, "Abide With Me" and "Whispering Hope," by the Youth Choir, with Mrs. V. G. Adams at the organ. Pall bearers were: Walter Mellen, Walter Young, John Winquist, Emery Tulker, Clair McCorkell and Alvin Peterson. Burial was in Riverside cemetery, in Akron.

Those from a distance attending the services included Mr. Frank Jensen, Miss Frances Watson, and Mrs. Milton Hanline, of Mitchell, S. D., Carl Thomas and Wm. Thomas, of Wayota, Minn..
