Rundell, Lowell Edgar 1935 - 1971

A victim of an automobile accident last week was Lowell Rundell of Hawarden. Rundell was killed Sunday afternoon, June 13, in a two car accident, minutes after leaving the Walter. Prinsen residence in Pipestone, Minn. The Prinsens are Mrs. Rundell's parents. The Rundell family had just left the Prinsens farm where they had been visiting, after attending Mrs. Rundell's brothers fiancee, wedding shower and her high school class reunion. According to Minnesota Highway Patrolman Howard Priebe, the Rundell auto was traveling south on State Highway 75 when they were struck by an eastbound auto approaching the stop sign on Pipestone County Road 7. Injured in the accident, were the four teenagers in the eastbound auto, three of which were hospitalized, Mrs. Rundell, and her three sons, Daniel, age 7, Scott, age 5, and Timothy, age 1. Still hospitalized and reported in good condition is Mrs. Rundell, and Timothy.

Lowell Edgar Rundell was born May 5, 1935 at Sioux Falls, S.D., the second son of Mrs. Ethel Rundell and the late Charles Rundell. He graduated from Akron High School in the Class of 1955, He served in the army for two years and was stationed in Georgia, and in Alaska. Rundell married Hazel Prinsen on October 6, 1963.

Survivors are his widow, his mother Mrs. Charles Rundell of Hawarden, one sister, Mrs. Joyce Wagner of Denver, Colo., two brothers, Keith of Minneapolis, and Gale of Sioux City. Also, two nieces and several nephews.

Rundell was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Hawarden, presently serving as a deacon and Sunday School secretary.
