Le Mars Daily SentinelVivian C. Sullivan, 92, of Le Mars, died Thursday, Oct. 13, 2011, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars.
Vivian Carol Sullivan, born to Anne and Louis Wordelman in Colome, S.D., on July 25, 1919. She attended grade school in Tripp County, South Dakota and high school at Colome, S.D. Vivian moved to Sioux Falls, S.D., where she attended Washington High School and Brandon High School, graduating in 1939. After high school, she attended Commercial College in Sioux Falls before beginning work as a secretary at the Sioux Falls Air Force Base. Vivian worked in East Los Angeles, Calif., for two years before returning to Sioux Falls to work for the Veteran's Administration.
She later transferred to the V.A. in Vermillion, S.D. This is where she met Keith Sullivan. They married in 1948 and lived in Yankton, S.D. before moving to Primghar, in 1950 to operate a bakery there.
They moved to Le Mars in 1954 and purchased a bakery. Keith remained in the bakery business until he retired in 1968 due to health reasons. Vivian then operated a health food store in Le Mars for approximately 30 years.
Vivian will be lovingly remembered by four children and their spouses, Eugene Sullivan and Sandra Rieber of Le Mars, Marilyn and Jerry Danielson of Pensacola, Fla., Kevin and Laura Sullivan of Hermitage, Tenn., and Jon and Janet Sullivan of Littleton, Colo.; nine grandchildren, Jessica, Joshua, Steven, Marisa, Michael, Grace, Andrew, Benjamin and Melanie; two great-grandchildren, Mason and Delaney; and a sister, Ethel Cramer of Lincoln, Neb.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Keith in 1991; both of her parents and her brother, Carl.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Mauer - Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. Pastor Jon Moravec will officiate. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Le Mars. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Monday at the Mauer - Johnson Funeral Home. The family will be present from 5-8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume at 9 a.m. on Tuesday.
