Funeral services for Philip R. Wahl, 78, were held Wednesday, June 3, at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick's church in Akron, conducted by Rev. Leo Lenz of Carroll, Iowa. Mr. Wahl was a World War I Veteran, and died in the Veteran Hospital at Sioux Falls, S.D., May 31, after a long illness.
Born at Carroll, Iowa, he was in the printing business with his father before coming to Plymouth County where he farmed.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Virgil of Long Beach, Calif.
Survivors are two brothers, Harry Wahl, Westfield and Louis Wahl, Long Beach, Calif.; two sisters, Miss Eleanor Wahl of Armour, S.D. and Marcella Wahl, Westfield, Iowa.
Pall bearers were: Alvord Banks, Ed Nelson, John Martin, Ralph Hebeler, Dolly Palmer and Ambrose Feauto.
The American Legion Hoschler Post conducted military rites at St. Joseph's cemetery, Akron, and also Veteran's of World War I Plymouth County Barracks. Relatives who attended were Sr. Mary Lenz, Briar Cliff College; Phil Lenz of Breda, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Paul Lenz and Lillian Lenz, Carroll, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Trommel of Sibley, Iowa; and Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Balster of Wilmont, Minn..
