Mr. Edward F. Neary was born in Union County, South Dakota in 1884, later moving to the Akron, Iowa area where he farmed with his father most of his young manhood. In 1912 he married Mary Ann Agnes of Akron, Iowa.

In 1914 the family moved to the Alameda, Saskatchewan farming area in Canada where he engaged in wheat farming for a number of years. Returning to Akron, Ed and his brother Joseph built Neary's Park, a recreational and dancing facility.

Early in the 1930's he and his family moved to Elk Point, South Dakota farming one of his father's farms until he bought a farm near Beresford, South Dakota in 1940.

After the death of his wife in 1945, Ed continued to farm until the death of his youngest daughter Vivian, Mrs. Edwin Wamser, in 1963. He then resided with the Wamser, family in Elm Groye and in Brookfield, Wisconsin aiding his ;: son-in-law- in the care of his eight grandchildren.

For the past several, winters, he has resided with his son, Paul Neary in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin spending his summers at his farm near Beresford, South Dakota until his death, May 13, 1970 at his son's home.

Mr. Neary is preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters; his wife, Mary Ann Neary; two children: Earl Edward Neary in childhood, and Vivian, Mrs. Edwin Wamser, in 1963.

His survivors include: a daughter Miss Helen M. Neary, a librarian in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and a son, Mr. Vincent Paul Neary, engaged in the Wamser Typography Business in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; twelve grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday, May 16, at St. Patrick's Catholic church in Akron, Father J. G. Schissel officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery.
