Dan Blake, Sr. age 77, died Thursday, January 29, at the Akron hospital after long illness.
Funeral services were held Monday February 2, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Church of Christ, Beryl Hicks officiating. "Nearer to the Heart of God," ant) "Under His Wings" were sung by Mrs. Hugh Swift with Mrs. Marvin Klemme, organist. Burial was in the Riverside Cemetery undo the direction of the Schroeder Funeral Home. Casket bearers were: Orin Blake Wayne Blake, Arden Blake, Jerry Blake Charles Thompson and Larry Duberke.
Dan Blake was born November 15, 1892, at Warrensburg, Mo., and came to Akron at the age of 9. He was married to Hazel Barrington September 6, 1911, in Sioux City. He was an Akron police officer for many years until retiring in 1966.
Survivors are his wife; two sons, Dan. Jr. and Kenneth of Akron; four daughters Mrs. Arnold Emrich and Mrs. Lucille Kenny of Lynwood, Wash., Mrs. Cecil Brunemeier of Nevada and Mrs. Scott Thompson of Wayne, Neb.; 20 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; a brother James or Zimmerman, Minn., and a sister, Mrs. Cliff Sperise in California.
