Dick Kluver, 93, longtime Remsen and area resident, died Sunday (Jan. 2, 1983) at Floyd Valley Hospital, Le Mars, after a brief illness.
He had made his home at Happy Siesta care center in Remsen the last six years.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Remsen, with Rev. Myron Herzberg officiating. Burial will be in the Remsen City Cemetery under direction of the Moeller Funeral Home, Remsen.
The family prayer service will be held at the church at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday.
Mr. Kluver was born June 9, 1889, at Utersen, Germany, to John and Margretta Franzen Kluver. He attended school in Germany and came to the United States in 1906.
His marriage to Anna Koch took place Dec. 18, 1914, at her parents home south of Remsen.
He and his wife farmed in the Remsen-Kingsley area until 1956. They then retired and continued to live on the farm place, moving into Remsen in 1968.
Mrs. Kluver died Oct. 29, 1976.
He was a member of St. Paul’s church.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Madie Moser, Kingsley, and Mrs. Rueben (Alma) Stabe, Sioux City; three sons, Edmund of Mesa, Ariz., Herman of Remsen, and Marvin of Cypress, Calif.; 21 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, three sisters and two grandsons. – family news clipping
