DEATH OF TWO PIONEERS. Both Had lived to Celebrate Golden Weddings. Remsen Bell Enterprise: Two well respected matrons from the rank and file of the oldest inhabitants of Remsen were lad to their last rest this week. Mrs. Klingbeil died at 11 p.m. Thursday, June 23. Mrs. Wilhelmine Klingbeil, nee Rhode, was born in Clausdorf, West Prussia Germany, on the 2nd day of November, 1825, and there in 1847 she gave her hand in marriage to Johann Klingbeil. Their union was blessed with six sons and four daughters. In 1875 the family came to this country and settled in Cedar county, Iowa. Later they made their home in Crawford county and in 1884 they came to Plymouth county and bought a farm 10 miles south of Remsen. Mr. and Mrs. Klingbeil had the good fortune of celebrating together in 1897, among many friends, their golden wedding. When in 1902 Johann Klingbeil died his widow came to live in Remsen. Of her children all but two sons survive her and with them 40 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. The remains of the good woman were laid to rest in the Remsen cemetery after funeral ceremonies in St. Paul church Monday morning, June 27th. Peace to her ashes.
