Orville Gale, 91

Orville Gale of Sioux City, formerly of Akron, died Sunday, Feb.2, 2003, at a Sioux City nursing home.

Services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 5. 10:30 a.m., at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Akron with Monsignor Richard Zenk officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery.

Lunch will be served at the St. Patrick's Parish Hall immediately following the committal service at the cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2 to 8 p.m. at Schroeder Funeral Home with family present 6 to 8 p.m. A Liturgical Wake Service followed by a Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4 at Schroeder Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are Donald Kapfer, Virgil Smith, Robert Voss, Arthur Voss, Conrad Pick, and Herk Von Hagel. Honorary pallbearers are Donald Gale, James Gale, Edward Pick, and William Meinen.

Orville was born Dec. 22, 1911, in Akron the son of Laurence and Catherine (McManaman) Gale. He attended Akron schools and worked as a farm hand for 22 years. After retiring to Akron in 1972 he helped his brother shell corn for many years.

He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and an associate member of the American Legion. In his free time, Orville loved horses and collecting anything with horses.

Survivors include three sisters, Madeline Burke of Sioux City, Gertrude and her husband Philip Di Mascio of South El Monte, CA, and Eileen and her husband David Gibeau of Reno, NV; and two sisters- in-law, Lucille Gale and Mary Gale, both of Akron.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Agnes Gale and Marcella Pick; four brothers, Francis, Joseph, Donald, and Matthew Gale; and several nieces and nephews.
