Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret Thomsen, an old and well known resident here, who passed away in a Cherokee hospital last Tuesday were held Saturday in St. Paul’s Evangelical church. Margaret Thomsen was born in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. February 25, 1872, and came to this country with her parents in 1888. The family first settled on a farm south of Remsen, where they resided for five years, and then moved to a farm near Grand Island, Neb. After spending ten years there they moved to a farm near Lenora, Okla., and after a few years returned to Remsen, Mrs. Thomsen living here the past twenty-three years. The children surviving are May, Anna, William, Henry and John Thomsen, all living at Lenora, Okla. – Le Mars Semi-Weekly Sentinel, April 17, 1934, page 4.
