Jurgen Peterson [Peters], aged 72, cut his throat in a fit of despondency at his home in Luverne, Minn. Jurgen Peterson was born in Holstein, Germany, and came to the United States in 1866, settling in Davenport, Iowa. A few years later he moved to a farm in Benton county. While residing there he was married and in 1883 the family came to Plymouth county, settling on farm in Sioux County. They lived there until about twelve years ago and came to live in Remsen in retirement. Nine years ago the family went to Luverne, where Mrs. Peters died four years ago. Mr. Peters had since then been making his home with his daughter in that town. The body was brought to Remsen Thursday and the funeral was held Friday morning with interment in the Remsen cemetery beside the body of the deceased’s departed wife and child. The death of Mrs. [Mr.] Peters is mourned by three children, Herman, residing in California, John, of Dell Rapids, and Mrs. Lena Lampert, of Luverne. – Le Mars Semi-Weekly Sentinel, April 28, 1914, page 3.
