Death Summons Former
Plymouth County Man
While Visiting Here
A brief mention was made in these columns last week of the death of Joseph L. Mansfield, of Glendale, Calif. in Akron Community Hospital on Thursday morning, September 22, 1955, after a brief illness. He was 57 years and six months of age.Mr. Mansfield had been visiting in Sioux City and Akron when he became ill. He was taken to the hospital where he failed to rally after surgery.
Joseph Lawrence Mansfield was born March 21, 1898, at Hinton, Iowa. He grew to young manhood in southwest Plymouth county and engaged in farming. For a number of years he has lived at Glendale, Calif., where he was employed as a railroad
inspector.Survivors include the widow, a daughter, Mrs, Betty Wisley, two stepsons, Richard and Clyde Forgerson, all of Glendale; his mother, Mrs, Cathrine Mansfield, of Sioux City; five sisters, Mrs. Lucille Hall, of Hawthorne, Calif,; .Mrs. Alice Worden and Mrs. Frances Stephens, both of Sioux City; Mrs. Margaret Ream, of Westfield, and Mrs. Nora Banks, of Akron, and three brothers, Jack, of Inglewood, Calif.; Ed, of Nora, Minn., and James, of Elk Point.
Funeral services were held here Monday morning in St. Patrick's Catholic church, Rev. Fr. J. G. Skahill officiating: Acting as pallbearers were Robert Worden, Richard Worden, James Stephens, Con Mansfield, Gerald Ream and John DeRocher.
Burial was in the Catholic cemetery at Huron, S. D.
