DEATH OF MRS. WALKER. Was a Resident of This County for Many Years.
Mrs. Margaret Walker, a resident of Le Mars for many years, died on Thursday at Kennewick, Wash, following a long illness. She had been in failing health for some years, suffering from chronic Bright’s disease. The body was brought here, arriving yesterday and the funeral was held at the Methodist church yesterday afternoon, Rev. C. H. Seward officiating, and interment was made at Remsen, where her husband and two sons are buried.
Margaret Livingston was a native of Canada, and was born at Seaforth, Ontario, on October 20, 1848, and grew up at that place and was united in marriage on August 18, 1866, with Archibald Walker. They came to Iowa in 1882 and lived in Cherokee county, where they farmed and then later bought a farm near Remsen. Mrs. Walker came to Le Mars after the death of her husband and lived here for many years. She left here about three years ago to make her home in Kennewick, Wash. Two sons, who were killed in an accident when a threshing engine went through a bridge, preceded her in death.
She is survived by seven children who are, James A. Walker, Miss Jennie Walker, Arthur Walker, Mrs. R. H. Briggs, and Mrs. J.A. Maxwell of Kennewick, Wash., Henry Walker living in Alberta, and Mrs. P.W. Knuth of Dubuque, Ia., There are eight grandchildren.
Mrs. Walker in early life joined the Methodist church and was a consistent member of the organization. She was a fine Christian woman and greatly esteemed by a large circle of friends and neighbors. – Le Mars Semi-Weekly Sentinel, April 4, 1922, page 1.
