TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. -- Kathleen K. Lentz, 89, of Traverse City, Mich., and formelry of Le Mars and Faribault, Minn., died Thursday, Jan. 14, 2004, at Grand Traverse Pavilions.

The former Kathleen K. Kelley was born Sept. 14, 1914, in Iowa, the daughter of J.E. and Charlotte Kelley. In 1938, she married Walter Christian Lentz, who preceded her in death in 1987.

Kathleen was a member of the library board in Faribault, Minn.

Kathleen had a great sense of humor. She was an excellent bridge player and taught duplicate bridge. She was an avid reader, loved music, art and literature, and took pleasure in sharing her knowledge with family and friends.

She is survived by two daughters, Sue Pierce Brightheart and Mary Katherine Lentz; five sons, Charles Robert Lentz, William James Lentz, Walter Kevin Kelley Lentz, Christopher Joseph Lentz and Thomas John Lentz; 11 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Ann Mee Biernacki in 1996; and two brothers, Robert Kelley and James P. Kelley.

A memorial mass was held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 19, at St. Michael's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Wayne Dziekan as celebrant. Arrangements were under the direction of Martinson Funeral Home in Suttons Bay, Mich.
