Remsen Bell-Enterprise: The only child of Mr. and Mrs. Earnest Harnack, a bright little boy of four years and six months, died of scarlet fever about 15 minutes before four o’clock Thursday afternoon. Only two Sundays before the little patient had rallied and the parents hoped for his recovery, but the hopes were sadly disappointed. The friends and neighbors of Mr. and Mrs. Harnack do certainly feel with them the weight of their loss, and extend their sincerest sympathies. The funeral will be conducted quietly owing to the nature of the cause of the death. – Le Mars Sentinel, March 15, 1904, page 3.
