FRANK TSCHAMPEL DIED SATURDAY
Funeral Services to be Held Tuesday, Dec. 17, In LeMars

Frank Tschampel, longtime resident of Plymouth County, passed away at his farm home near Merrill, Iowa, on December 14th. He had been ailing for about 2 years but his death was attributed to a stroke.

Frank Tschampel was born March 11, 1880, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and came to Remsen with his parents when a boy of seven. The family later moved to Akron where they farmed. When a young man he farmed near Westfield with a brother-in-law, John Leubs. A few years later he purchased a butcher shop in Westfield, which he operated for two years. In 1912, he moved to Lake Preston, South Dakota, where he was engaged in hotel business. On January 16, 1913, he was united in marriage at DeSmet, South Dakota, with Bertha Terborg of Lake Preston. To this union 2 children were born, one daughter passing away in infancy. He and his family then moved to Westfield where he operated a business for 5 years. In 1918 they moved to a farm near LeMars where they resided until 1945, when he purchased a farm near Merrill, Iowa, where he lived until his death.

Surviving are his wife, Bertha; a son, Harold Tschampel; his father, Charles Tschampel of Sioux City; a brother, Henry Tschampel and two sisters, Mrs. Emma Lauerman of Sioux City, and Mrs. Hattie Guse of Cheyenne, Wyoming. He was preceded in death by his mother, an infant daughter, three sisters, and three brothers.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 17th, at 2:00 in Mauer’s Funeral Home. Rev. Quirn will officiate at the services and burial will be in the LeMars City Cemetery.
