John P. Schmidt, 71, a native of the Remsen vicinity, died Friday morning at a Le Mars Ia., hospital after a week of sickness.
Mr. Schmidt was born September 18, 1883, near here. He had farmed north of Remsen many years. He married Clara Raveling January 3, 1917, at Remsen.
Survivors are the widow, a daughter, Mrs. Vance Harnack, and a son, Richard, both of Remsen and two grand daughters.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Sunday at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran church, Rev. Paul Wuebben officiated. Burial was in a Remsen cemetery under direction of the Moeller funeral home of Remsen. – Le Mars Globe-Post, Sept. 12, 1955, page 7.
