Maggie May Coppock, 90, of Mesa, Ariz., died Saturday, May 28, 2011, at Mesa.

Maggie was born to Conrad and Annie (McDougal) Nanninga on a farm west of Struble on May 9, 1921. The family moved to a farm near Ireton, where she lived until graduating from Le Mars Central High School.

She married Jack Hinde June 9, 1939. They had two children: son, Keith and daughter, Connie. They farmed in Iowa for eight years before moving to Haxtun, Colo., in 1947 where Jack was in partnership with his brother, Lee Hinde. Later they moved to Denver where Maggie worked in the credit office for Montgomery Ward for 16 years.

Jack died July 19, 1975. Maggie then married Ashton Coppock.

After retirement, Maggie and Ashton moved to Mesa, Ariz.. They spent winters in Arizona and summers in Iowa. Ashton died June 30, 1992.
Maggie was a member of Velda Rose United Methodist Church and an active member of United Methodist Women. She served as a Circle chairperson for many years and was a past president of UMW.

Maggie always had a positive attitude in life. She loved to travel and enjoyed being with people. She enjoyed sports, especially football, and was a loyal fan of the Denver Broncos. She was a china painting artist and did many kinds of needle work.

Survivors include a son, Keith Hinde (Lana); a daughter: Connie Freebern (Douglas); a step-daughter: Connie Dutka (Stephen); grandchildren: Douglas Lucas (Melinda), Leanne Gronemeyer, Kristin Hinde-Ray (Joe), Karri Ryan (Richard); step-grandchildren: Christopher Dutka (Amanda), Matthew Dutka (Penny); great-grandchildren: Kaitlyn Hinde-Ray, Arron Lucas, Nathan Lucas, Faith Lucas, Paige Lucas, Kaila Dugger, Kevin Ryan, Luke Gronemeyer; stepgreat-grandchildren: Alex Rasmussen-Lucas and Tyler Ryan; and a sister-in-law: Esther Hinde.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Jack Hinde and Ashton Coppock; four brothers: Lloyd Nanninga, Alex Nanninga, Orville Nanninga and Howard Nanninga, two sisters: Grace Dunn and Helen Mock and son-in-law, Donald Lucas.

Funeral services were held June 3 at Velda Rose United Methodist Church in Mesa. Internment will be in Haxtun, Colo.
