Albert J. Koerner Called By Death. Passes Away at Veterans Hospital at Excelsior Springs, Mo.
Albert J. Koerner died Saturday, October 31, at the Veterans Hospital at Excelsior Springs, Mo. Mr. Koerner had been in poor health for some time.
Albert John Koerner was born to Mr. and Mrs. Chris Koerner at Frankfurt, Illinois, on February 15, 1889. When a year old he came to Remsen where he spent his boyhood days, later going to Le Mars with his parents. Prior to the war he lived at Aberdeen S.D. where he was employed by the Dakota Central Telephone Co. He enlisted in the Army Signal Corps where he remained until the close of the war. During the period his health was greatly impaired and it became more and more difficult for him to carry on his work.
In February, 1932, it became necessary for him to be confined to the Veterans Hospital at Excelsior Springs, Mo, where he remained until the time of his death.
He leaves to mourn his loss, his mother, Mrs. Bertha Koerner, Le Mars; one sister, Mrs. C.L. Whitney, Le Mars; and five brothers, Fred of George, Ia.; Chris, Jerry, Irwin and Harold, all of Le Mars. Also one daughter Maretta or Arkansas City, Mo. Funeral services will be held at Luken’s Funeral Home at 2 P.M. Tuesday, Rev. John Perl officiating. Burial will be made in the Remsen cemetery beside his father. Members of American Legion will act as pallbearers.
