Mrs. Hans Rohlfsen, a well known and long time resident of Le Mars, died at her home on the corner of First and Fulton streets yesterday afternoon, following a short illness caused by pneumonia. Mrs. Rohlfsen was sick for only a week and her death unexpected and sudden is a great shock to her relatives and friends.
Mrs. Rohfsen was a native of Germany and was born in Pommern, on February 6, 1852. When a girl she came with her parents to America in 1872, they making their home in Chicago. She was married to Hans Rohlfsen in 187? and in 1876 they settled on a farm in Cherokee county and lived for many years a few miles north of Marcus, and in recent years came to Le Mars to make their home.
The deceased is mourned by her husband and five children, who are Mrs. Fred Tangeman, of Melvin, Ia., Will Rohlfsen, of Paullina, Mrs. F.H. Hein , of Linn Grove, Henry and George Rohlfsen, of Marcus. She also leaves a sister, Mrs. Stolley, of Remsen.
The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon. Rev. J. J. Vollmar officiating, and the interment will be made at Remsen on Monday. – Le Mars Semi-Weekly Sentinel, Friday, March 23, 1917, page 1.
